Stamp and Stitch a Bag
Good Morning Crafters
Today we have something a bit different to share with you.
Pandy has created this beautiful bag!
Products used from the Personal Impressions website are as follows:
Basket of
flowers stamp from Something Tattered stamp set – ‘Table’
Memento ink pads in various colours to match your fabric
Other products to used
Cotton fabric 17cm x 35cm to stamp on
Matching lining 17cm x 35cm
Bits and bobs of sewing threads
Seed Beads
Tape/ribbon for bag handles 2 x 30 cm
Fabric sizes are approximate - you don't have to be exact.
You can hand or machine sew the fabrics - whichever you prefer
Step 1
Iron the fabric well so that it is
smooth. Fold the outer fabric in half with the right side facing up
and stamp the image onto the fabric about 2/3 of the way down on one side
kitten tip – you may need something soft under the fabric so that the ink can
soak into the fabric – practice on the back of the fabric first.
Step 2
Use stranded embroidery threads or
sewing threads to add colour and definition to the image. Start with the
parts that would be at the background and work forwards adding over stitching
to create depth. Add a few seed beads over the top as flowers.
Step 3
Fold the outer fabric right
sides together and sew down each side.
Step 4
Fold the inner fabric right sides
together and sew down each side. turn the outer fabric the right side out
and slide the inner fabric straight into the bag.
Step 5
Turn over about 2cm of the raw
edges in towards the middle of the fabrics – slide the ribbon lengths in to the
gap so they make a loop handle.
Sew round the edge of the bag to neaten
and secure the handles.
Well Pandy definitely thought outside the box on this project!
What do you think?
