One for the Gents

Good Morning Crafters

How many of you struggle with creating cards for men?

Today Tracey has a fabulous step by step male card to share.

She has created this project using products from Personal Impressions website.

You will need the following for this project:
Sweet Dixie A4 Card Pack – Latte & Chocolate (240 gsm)
Kaisercrafts 6 ½ “ Paper Pad – Vintage Timeless
Step 1
I took a piece of the Sweet Dixies card ‘Latte’ and created a gatefold card blank by finding the middle mark and folding each side in to the middle up to the mark,  You could use a bone folder to get a nice neat crease line.

Step 2
Now measure each flap of the gatefold and they should measure 7.3cm wide, take the Sweet Dixies Card stock ‘Chocolate’ this time, we need to cut 2 panels for the folds, these need to measure 6.8cm wide by 20cm tall. These can now be stuck in place on the front folds.
Now for the inside of the card I have also cut a piece of Sweet Dixies ‘Chocolate’ Card stock to fit as an insert 13.8cm by 20cm should be fine.

Step 3
Now we start on the square panel for the front of the card. Take another piece of ‘Latte’ colour card and cut a square out at 12.6cm x 12.6cm, then from the Kaisercrafts ‘Vintage Timeless’ pad,  I have taken the sheet with old pocket watches as my sheet and cut that too 11.6cm x 11.6cm and then using an edge scrapper tool I have roughed up the edges of the pocket watch paper and stuck this down to the latte panel in the centre.

Step 4
We now choose backing papers from the Kaisercrafts Pad to use on the main card panels, I went for the old world map and the scrabble tiles but any of the sheets would work wonderfully.
Now these need cutting: 6 ½“ x 5.2cm each and you will need 2 of each panel for the front of the card. Glue these in place and overlap as they will be covered by the front panel in a moment.
Remembering to only adhere the left hand side now stick the central panel in place centrally.

Step 5
Now we can design the front panel, I have started with the sentiment this time, Now using a piece of ‘Chocolate’ off cut card stock I have cut a panel 10.5cm x 2.5cm and again roughed the edges up. Next we take the off cuts from the scrabble piece of backing paper and cut out the letters to make our sentiment. I chose ‘Just for you’ and there were plenty of letters to choose from. Cut each one out individually and glue on the panel in a neat or jumbled fashion that is up to you. This can then be glue on to the central panel at the top.

Step 6

Within the gorgeous Kaisercrafts Vintage Timeless Pad there are several very easy to cut up sheets and so for this project I took the postcards sheet and cut 2 of them out and glued them in place on the front panel. Then I used some of the off cuts from the pocket watch sheet and cut out the watches and glued them on the front panel too. You could even add these on the inside for extra detail.

Step 7
All finished, now you could add distress inks to this project for a really vintage feel.

Its a fantastic paper pad and offers various elements ideal for men's cards or even steampunk mixed media projects too.

Thank you for visiting today!
